Hey four eyes!

November 26, 2014

Yes, that was me for 3 years.  The little girl with glasses who had no idea how to wear them or what looked good.  I was the epitome of a dork in glasses.  I would show you a picture but I would never live it down.  Add to it a perm and I should be on one of those “what they looked like back then” shows.  And I would be the winner.  Then in 7th grade I got contacts. Hallelujah!  I was saved and worked my way out of total dork status.

But my vision got worse and worse every year.  It was terrible.  Like I was legally blind terrible. That’s when I finally bit the bullet and had PRK about a year ago.  PRK is a form of Lasik, but my corneas were too thin for traditional Lasik so they did the PRK procedure instead. Coming out of the surgery I was so excited to be able to see again….and I do, just not 100%.  My vision was so bad and my corneas so thin, that they couldn’t get me to 20/20 vision.

Cue sad face.  🙁

I’m not quite 20/20 now, so I technically don’t need glasses, but I’ve noticed my night vision is horrible now and I could stand to see highway signs a bit clearer when I’m driving.

Enter Firmoo!  When they reached out for me to review a pair of glasses I was a little nervous, but figured it was the perfect opportunity for some new specs.  It had been years since I purchased new glasses, and looking at glasses online is a bit scary.  I’m big on seeing things in person, so the thought of purchasing glasses online wasn’t 100% appealing to me, but Firmoo has a virtual viewer, where you can upload a photo of yourself and select a pair of glasses to see what they would look like on you.

I am lucky enough to have a very stylish, glasses wearing co-worker, so she helped me select this pair.

The one thing that is really appealing about Firmoo is their prices.  Because of my previously high prescription, I was limited in my selection, and the glasses available to me were usually pretty expensive.  I love that all of Firmoo’s frames are under $75, and most of them are under $40.

They came in a cute, stylish hard case right to my mailbox.

So yes, definitely happy with my glasses.  Firmoo was quick in replying and getting my glasses shipped so I was happy with the service.  Would I order glasses online again?  Possibly.  I think the quality is good for the value.

Question of the day: Have you ordered glasses online?  Would you?

* Full disclaimer: I was provided a pair of glasses for this review.  All thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.

How cute are those on you! I never ordered online, because it made me too nervous! So glad I have LASIK and don’t have to worry about that anymore 😉

I wish my eyes weren’t so bad that the Lasik/PRK would have been better. And yes, I was nervous ordering online, but am happy with what I got.

boooo my comment didn’t go through, short version: those are so cute on you!

Seriously need to figure out how to stop some comments from going to spam. I feel like once I approve a commenter their comments shouldn’t go to spam anymore but they still do. Weird.

Ohhhh, I like yours better than mine! They look great, especially with your hair pulled back 🙂

Thanks girl! It’s taking me some time to get used to glasses again, but I like them.

Those look really really great on you, Tiffany! Very cute! I always wanted to wear glasses because I thought they were cute 🙂

People always want what they don’t have. I hated having glasses but I know a lot of people that just wear them for fashion.

Very cute! I would be pretty nervous to order glasses online, and I would definitely have to seek the help of a friend too. I’m pretty indecisive anyway and picking new glasses throws me into a whole new level. That’s why I stick to my contacts. 🙂

    • Tiffany says: November 26, 2014 at 2:56 pm

I’m the same way! It takes me forever to make a decision and then I second guess myself all the time. Don’t blame you for sticking with the contacts. 🙂

I wore glasses from grade 3 to grade 11. I was tormented in school. It was dreadful.

I wear contacts most of the time but I wear glasses in the evening… and my glasses are pretty cute too.

I’ve never ordered online before – I looked into it before but was nervous about the measurement of pupil to pupil and that I could possibly get it wrong and mess up my order.

Thanks for sharing (and you really look great)!
    xoxo

I guess if you know your eyes and what the number is on the 20/20 spectrum, I guess it seems like it would be easy to buy them online. I never thought about it. I never needed glasses though so that’s why. I think you look adorable. Hopefully you don’t get that excessive watery eyes thing. My friend Kim did the Lasik surgery a while ago and apparently that is a side effect, but her doctor said it’s nothing she can do about it….it’s just a side effect to the surgery that some people get after a while. Either way, that sounds annoying! I’ve had it more since I’ve been pregnant at random times.

    • Tiffany says: November 28, 2014 at 10:24 pm

That would be annoying. I know a lot of people who actually suffered from dry eye after the surgery, so they give you a ton of drops to use. It lasted a bit but wasn’t too bad for me. I’m so glad I had the surgery and will probably do a touch up when I get older. They said I could stand one more surgery but should wait until I’m older b/c my eyes will probably change again.

These look so good on you! I love the look of glasses but don’t need them…yet, though I probably will eventually!

    • Tiffany says: November 30, 2014 at 2:23 pm

Aw thanks Carly. I think as we get older most of us usually need glasses. I just needed them at a young age. 🙂

I have to wear glasses too! I HAVE TO, lol. I can see perfectly to read & close up, but I cannot see far away. I have to wear glasses to watch t.v., drive & stuff like that. You know, the important stuff, lol, otherwise, everything is really blurry. Sigh :/

    • Tiffany says: November 30, 2014 at 6:51 pm

I couldn’t see far away either. Still can’t 100%. We’re watching football right now and I can see, but it’s not perfectly clear. Guess I should scoot closer. 🙂

Okay….that first pic is like the cutest pic of you I’ve ever seen, you are gorgeous and rock those glasses! I don’t need glasses but I’ve always wanted to wear them because I think they make people look soooo cute.

    • Tiffany says: December 2, 2014 at 8:53 pm

You are ridiculous, but thank you. I have always hated having my picture taken in glasses. I feel like I can’t pose in them or something, I don’t know. They really do make some people look cute. I’ve always felt awkward in them.
