Happy Monday! How was everyone’s weekend? We had absolutely amazing weather and started planting flowers and getting our grass in shape. The great weather is continuing into the week so I hope we can get a little more work done on the yard in the next few days.
Back in January I shared our plans for getting our lives organized. You can read the original post HERE. And it’s only taken me 2 months to finally share our first completed project! The thing is, we actually tackled the bonus/play room closet about a week after my original post. We started our de-cluttering projects while Little A was napping one day and just kept going. Once you get that momentum going you just can’t stop! Why it took me so long to share was the photos. The original photos I took were terrible. The lighting is tricky in that room, so I waited for the glorious weather we had this weekend to get some better shots.
The bonus room is basically Little A’s playroom. It holds most of her toys including the larger toys, and is where she likes to spend most of her time playing. Our original vision for this room was to make it a media/play room, but honestly I don’t know if that’s going to happen. The girl just has too much stuff!
The biggest project that needed to be tackled in this room was the closet. It had turned into a “stuff it in here if you can’t find a home for it” closet. I hate those closets!
As you can see, it was just a jumbled mess and we couldn’t fit very much in there. Old picture frames, a sleeping bag (?) exercise ball and lots of little things just sitting on shelves. The space just wasn’t being utilized properly. Little A has so many toys that we wanted to get her things organized and fit as much as we could in the closet.
We took everything out and sorted it into 3 piles: keep, donate and throw away. It was actually more like 3 areas in the room because there was so much stuff!
Then we started putting things we wanted to keep in the closet back in, most of which were toys, but we have overflow movies and games in this closet as well. Once we had those few things in there, we started looking at what other things of Little A’s we could put on the shelves.
We fit a ton of the items in the closet that were previously taking up room on the bonus room floor. Yes, including the Wii, accessories, and Rock Band. Little A isn’t quite ready for Wii yet. But you can bet when she is there will be lots of Rock Band being played. 🙂 We even have extra space for more toys if we want to move some things from downstairs (where she has a few more toys and books) to the closet.
And we used bins. I love bins so much. We even fit her baby stroller and little car in the closet. Huge space savers in the main area!
Next, is onto the office. That will be our biggest challenge yet! We are about half way done, but have some major challenges ahead of us.
Question of the day: Do you have any big organizing projects you are taking on this year?
Looks great – I need you to help me with our house!
Thanks lady! I love organizing. It’s very therapeutic for me, lol!
Whoa! That space looks great. We need to get more organized, too. I’m hoping we’ll be able to move soon and we an start with a fresh, clean slate.
This place looks so fun, I wish I was younger, haha!
Love that everything has a place and is easy to spot!! I love using bins too – we have them on some shelves and it’s just the easiest way to hide clutter lol! xo, Biana – BlovedBoston
Looks great Tiffany!! Yeah, bins are my best friend 🙂 They help so much with organizing! Good job! Can’t wait to see the office!
You guys did such a good job with this! Closets can be so tricky to figure out the most efficient way to use up the space!
Would you like to come organize my house? I have certain things in order, like my closet and makeup drawer haha but then everything else is a disaster! You did such a great job!

Looks really good!! I’m like you, I love to be organized and things easy to get to. Also, it’s less stressful mentally as you look at stuff kept all tidy. Easy on the eyes, easy on the mind. Nice job!! …And I have that same silver work out ball, lol.
