Happy weekend friends! K is off on a bachelor party in Whistler this weekend so baby girl and I are flying solo for a few days. We have dinner plans, a party to attend and some girly movies to watch. And thanks to the hubs we’ll be doing it all in the comfort of an air conditioned house. Thank you Costco! It is going to be in the high 80s and 90s for the foreseeable future and if your a native Washingtonian, you will die without AC. Fun fact: not a lot of houses in Western Washington have air conditioning. There is no need for it usually. Especially in June! It’s a saying up here that summer doesn’t start until after the 4th of July. Traditionally, June is a cool month; low 60s, maybe 70 degrees. There have been 4th’s where I’ve been in jeans and a sweatshirt, while it’s been raining. But wow, the weather has been unbelievable these last few months! So we broke down and bought an AC unit, and may spring for installed AC next week.
Favorite Me Time
I’ve been trying to focus on myself more lately. That sounds so weird to say. What I mean is that I’ve really been trying to stay positive and happy, and by doing so I’m reading a lot, having quiet time to myself and really working on my health and fitness. I continue to hear from many great entrepreneurs that you should invest in yourself more. So that’s what I’m trying to do.
I got the Tone It Up girl’s book last weekend and started the 28 day challenge on Monday. The book has a ton of inspirational stories and ideas for you to be fit, fierce and fabulous. And I love it! I’m doing 2 workouts a day, getting up half an hour earlier to do the first workout, and I feel so good! I’m happier, more motivated and feel like I can do anything I set my mind to. It feels awesome to be able to say that. So if I’m not posting as often for the next month or so, it’s because I’m working on me.
If you’re in the market for some inspiration with a side of health and fitness, pick this book up. And check out their website ToneItUp.com. These ladies have created a great community of strong, supportive women.
Favorite Recipe
I made the best smoothie Wednesday evening with the beets we had.
– 1 beet root, peeled and chopped
– 1 apple
– 1 carrot
– 1/2 cup water and a handful of ice
If you only have a blender I wouldn’t recommend this recipe, but if you have a Vitamix or Ninja (or something similar), do it. It was so refreshing on a hot day and after a hard workout.

Favorite Summer Entertaining
Growing up, my parents entertained often, and so did my aunt and uncle. Their parties are some of my fondest memories. K and I are so busy that we haven’t had time to entertain as much as we’d like to. I’m hoping to change that this summer and have friends over a few times for a barbecue or wine tasting party. These 9 stylish party themes are giving me some great ideas.
Favorite Style Inspiration
I had no idea that Emily from Cupcakes and Cashmere had her own line of clothing coming to Nordstrom! Her line, Cupcakes and Cashmere, will launch online July 6th and in select stores July 10th. I really admire Emily’s style and of course her blog is amazing. She’s built a great brand for herself.
Linking up with Amanda and Karli today.
That’s all I got for y’all. Have a great weekend love bugs!
Good for you for focusing on you and doing things to make sure you’re healthy! I’m so happy that it’s already having an impact! 🙂 I loved the Tone it Up girls’ show on tv–they seem awesome.
Not a lot of houses have a/c units here either which is weird for a florida girl like me!! I hope you enjoy your girly weekend!!! xo, Biana –BlovedBoston
Your smoothie looks SO good! Cant wait to check out the party themes – so fun! Have a great weekend!
I am the worst smoothie maker ever!!! I’ve tried 3 different ones and they all flopped. I ended up making a cup of coffee instead. Ha! I hope you and your girl have the best weekend together!
I hope you girls have a fabulous weekend 🙂 I think it’s great that you’re making more time for YOU. I’ve wondered about the new TIU book, I just love them!
Totally understand the focusing on yourself part! I’m trying to learn to take a few minutes each day to just do something I enjoy to relax and it really helps 🙂 Good luck with your tone it up challenge!

Thanks Kelsey! Taking time for yourself is so essential for our health. I wish I’d started doing it sooner! 🙂
Mmmm that smoothie looks toooo good.
And I’m totally jealous there’s no need for A/C where you live. O.o We run it year ’round!
I love TIU!! I would love to check out their book sometime, too!

If we were going to be in our house longer we would def get AC installed. For now, we have two portable units.
Sounds like you have a fun girls weekend ahead! Hope you enjoy some one-on-one with your sweet girl!!!!
Thanks lady! It was unfortunately a trying weekend. I’m very glad it’s almost over.
Where the heck do you live again – Canada?! It’s 108 in Dallas currently and I didn’t even run the air in my car until I picked up H from preschool. Although I’d definitely take low 90’s right about now being pregnant… Minneapolis homes don’t have air either. I never lived in a place with AC in fact, but I did have a window unit for my bedroom that I used from mid June to early Sept. Just like Jaelan said, we run our air year round now!
SO glad you’re getting some “you” time. It’s so important! It absolutely blows my mind how happy I am after I have a morning to myself when kiddo goes to school. Today I read, painted my toes and stayed the heck away from the internet. It was glorious!
That smoothie sounds yummy. I may have to try it!
And, it has been unseasonably hot here too! Seriously. they are predicting heat waves through September. This preggo may go crazy before then! Thankful we have A/C!
Happy Weekend!
Loving that inspiration! I’ve been trying to get my life in order like that!!
That beet juice sounds good! I’ll bet the apple make it taste so much better than just beet juice which I think is odd by itself. I’m glad you’re getting a lot of “me time” lately!
