Hello! This week’s installment of Tiff’s Favorites is probably one of my favorites. I love to travel. There are so many amazing places in the world to see and I plan to see many of them. I’ve been very fortunate to have visited many places already though. Here are a few of some of my favorite cities.
One of the most wonderful places I’ve ever visited is…..
Rome. If you’ve ever been then you know why I love Rome. The history, the food, the amazing sights. It is a magical place. There is so much to see that you need to spend at least a week there, and even then you probably won’t be able to see everything.
Close to Rome you will find the area of….
Tuscany. I couldn’t choose just one city in Tuscany to highlight. I traveled around the area and it is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been. The countryside and rolling hills are breathtaking. If you ever visit, a few of my favorite cities were Florence (of course), Arezzo, Sansepolcro, Assisi and Arezzo.
My most favorite city to visit in the US is…
New York City. It’s been quite a few years since I’ve been, but it’s somewhere you don’t forget. I love the bustling city. There’s so much to see and do in NYC and the surrounding suburbs. This is one of the places I’d love to live for a year. Just to experience real city life.
I really do love the East Coast because my other favorite U.S. city is…
Boston. I really think Boston is a beautiful city. It’s a great walking city and there are some really good walking tours you can do. Boston Harbor is fabulous. There’s a lot of history in the city (Paul Revere’s house, the Freedom Trail) and I love love LOVE U.S. history. Boston Commons and Newbury Street are 2 of my favorite areas.
Going international again, I also really love…
Munich. I’m a German girl and seeing the country firsthand was fabulous. Munich is a big city, but still has a quaint feel to it. If you go I’d recommed doing Mike’s Bike Tour. Great way to see the city.
Neuschwansetin Castle. Now this really is probably my all time favorite place I’ve ever been. For years I dreamed of visiting Neuschwanstein. I never EVER thought I’d get to visit until my hubby (pre-marriage) found a great deal on tickets to Munich. Fussen is only about a 2 hour train ride from Munich so he suggested we go! Smart man he is.
My dream visit was coming true. And to top it all off that’s where we got engaged! At the one place I never thought I’d ever get to visit. My #1 bucket list locale. Best. Day. Ever. (The proposal is a whoooole other story for a different post. Long story short, I was kind of being a brat and was making it very difficult for him to get down on one knee where he’d planned.)
Right after he proposed. Holy cow look how young we are! |
I’ve spent a little time in England. London is nice, but this sweet little town…
Cambridge, is lovely. It’s only about 50 miles or so North of London, so still close to the city. The downtown area is surrounded by a little lake, where you can find people punting. What is punting you might ask? Punting means boating in a punt. What is a punt? Well I’m glad you asked. A punt is a flat bottom boat with a square bow. The punter (person holding the pole, not to be confused with an oar) pushes against the river bed to propel the punt. And that’s punting. Sorry, got way off track there.
Back to Cambridge city. There is some beautiful architecture in Cambridge and wonderful history. They have some great little pubs as well. Good place for a day trip from London.
And those are a few of my favorite cities! We have quite a large bucket list of places we’d like to visit (Greece, Australia/New Zealand, Croatia, Thailand, France, just to name a few).
We’re half way through the week! Happy Wednesday to you!
The punting looks fun, especially if you’re the one in the boat and someone else is punting! 🙂
How remarkable that you got engaged at that wonderful castle!
You and I are on the same page about the punting girl!
Thanks for commenting!
