Hey hey! I’m back from my blogging break and am ready to hit the ground running. We had an amazing week in Chelan, our home away from home, and as always it’s hard to come back. BUT! While we were gone our hardwood floors were installed and I am in love with them! More work is being done this week so things are coming along. Hopefully by the end of the month the house will be done and I’ll be able to share some photos with y’all!
Now that September is here I am ready for all things fall. Even though we had a mild summer here in Seattle, I’m looking forward to all the things that are happening this fall.
I’m really glad I’m setting monthly because it’s helping me stay accountable and be more deliberate about how I spend my time.
Let’s recap August’s goals.
Prep for our trip to Chelan // Accomplished! We had a blast in Chelan and can’t wait to go back in a few months.
Paint, paint, paint // Done! We spent many, many nights painting into the wee hours, but we got it done and I love the color we chose.
Get A ready for back to school // Somewhat successful. We did a bit of school clothes shopping thanks mainly to my mother in law, but because we had so much work to do on the house we didn’t have time to get out to the stores. I did order a few items yesterday during the Old Navy 50% off sale so I’m excited to get those this week. I’m sure we’ll do a bit more shopping in the coming weeks.
Update old photos on posts // Partly accomplished. I started off really strong, updating 2 or 3 posts during the first week of August, and then didn’t do any more the rest of the month. A few specific recipes I know I want to update are Crock Pot recipes so now that the weather is cooler I’ll remake those and take new photos.
Use my camera more // Fail. I took my camera with me to Chelan but only took it out once I think. We were just so busy and it just always slipped my mind to grab it.
Now for September’s Goals!
Finish our remodel // We still have quite a bit to do, but it’s coming along. The hubs and I still need to rip up all the carpet upstairs to get ready for the new carpet, which will be installed toward the end of the month. I’m really not looking forward to more carpet removal because it involves pulling about a million staples and no one wants to do that. I really don’t know how the carpet guys do it. Like my fingers and hands hurt so bad afterward! But it’s saving us a ton of money so in the end it’s worth it.
Plan A’s birthday party // Baby girl is turning 5 in October! Her big birthday present is a trip to the happiest place on Earth, but I do want to plan a little get together with some of her friends and family. Nothing crazy like I’ve done in the past (with her shabby chic first birthday, her pink lemonade 2nd birthday or her rainbow 3rd birthday), but just something small. She has requested a mermaid themed party, so we’ll see if that happens or if I just grab a Costco cake, some pizza and call it good.
Get into a good fall routine // Little A starts school tomorrow and all her fall activities are in full swing this week so getting into a good routine is going to be key. We have activities 5 days a week so my planner is going to be getting a lot of use. Hopefully now that she has school 4 days a week I’ll have a bit more time for myself.
Update old posts // I got a few done last month, but not as many as I’d like, so I want to make this a goal again for September.
Try 2 new recipes // I have a few recipes I’ve been wanting to make to see if they are blog worthy. For some reason fall is always when I get the itch to get in the kitchen and actually cook (the hubs does most of the cooking and I do all the baking). Since we’ve been eating really well I want to get creative with some healthy recipes to branch out from our usual chicken and green beans.
September is my favorite month of the year. Back to school, leaves falling off the trees, football, crisp mornings and all the fall decor (and not to mention my birthday). All of these things make September a welcome sight.
What’s one goal you have for the month?
I need to be using my camera more as well. Dang handy phones. 😉 I can’t wait to see pictures of your house. I bet you are so excited! I should start doing monthly goals as well… maybe next month.
It’s hard to use a camera when your phone is so convenient! I’ve made that goal before and I think I have given up. LOL. by the way, September is my favorite month of the year too – woo hoo!
Our leaves don’t turn until November (end of Nov) and it’s 96 and humid AF today BUUUUUUTTTTT I’m with you on all things fall! Hubs is grabbing the rest of the decorations from the attic today and I’m going to spend the week figuring out where to put things that a toddler can’t destroy and an almost crawling, pulling up baby won’t chew on! We share the same first day of school (are we seriously the last people on earth to go back?!) and I’m SO excited to have a more quiet house to get things done!
Yay for September (and your birthday!)! A’s parties you shared looked AMAZING so I’m sure you’ll do something fun. I love planning parties too, but we decided to keep it low key and just take her to Chuck-E-Cheese this year haha. I can’t wait to see your finished house! Glad you got a nice break at the end of last month!
These are some great goals! My goal is to continue to work on my photography and keep everything juggled correctly lol
I’m so glad you had a great time away! And, sounds like another exciting and happy trip is on the horizon with your daughters birthday!
I really love this monthly goal thing I’ve been doing, too. It certainly helps me to not only be intentional, but also accountable and recognize even my little accomplishments! 🙂
Congrats on your goals!! I can’t wait to see how the remodel comes along, and I’m also looking forward to settling into a fall routine.
The remodel is looking SO good!! And I might join you on the updating old posts parade, if you don’t mind 🙂 x
A is about to be 5?! Holy cow.
I cannot WAIT to see how the rest of your remodel turns out. I am seriously loving those hardwood floors. #TOGSnapSquad 😉 (Does using a hashtag to proclaim my love for your snaps make me trendy?)
Does A know about the big trip?! Can’t wait to see your remodel pics at the end!
