Weekend Rewind

Weekending: A Trip to Bend and Easter

April 6, 2015

Happy Monday friends!  I hope everyone had a fantastic Easter weekend!  It’s always hard to get back to work after a long weekend, and this one is no exception.

We had a wonderful Easter celebrating with our family.

First thing little miss wanted to do was hunt for the eggs the Easter bunny left.  She couldn’t even wait until after she got her dress on, so she hunted in her PJs and cowboy boots.

And you can see we didn’t even get a brush through her hair.  That’s my girl!

After egg hunting we went to church, then to my aunt and uncle’s house for brunch with the family.  Little A was spoiled there again with goodies, clothes and toys.  We then spent the rest of the afternoon hiding and re-hunting Easter eggs.  Over and over and over.  Oh my word.

But, before Easter, we spent a few days visiting our friends in Bend, Oregon!  They are expecting a baby later this month AND they just built a new house so we had to get down there for a visit.

If you haven’t been to Bend, I highly recommend you add it to your list of future vacation spots.  It is an amazing town.  We wish we could pack up everything and move.  It’s a mid-sized town (around 80k people) but it has a small town feel.  There is always something going on downtown and there’s so much to do in the area.

We went to a beer tasting at the High Desert Museum Thursday evening. There were 5 or 6 breweries doing tastings, and you could see some of the animals they have including turtles, snakes, a bobcat and a raccoon, which Little A loved.  Super fun event!

Little A was obsessed with walking Zeus the whole weekend.  He wasn’t super thrilled, but he was good about letting her walk him.

Friday we went to breakfast at La Magie downtown, which I highly recommend, then spent some time walking around downtown.  We went for a hike in the afternoon along the Deschutes River.

We then headed downtown for the First Friday Art Walk, where some of the local shops stay open late and feature local artists, musicians and performers. And they serve beer, wine and food.  All for free! Including the best ice cream I’ve ever had.  It was divine.

We had a blast, even Little A.

Saturday we did breakfast out then went to a local antique store in Redmond that was fantastic!  It was huge and had everything from old chaps and cowboy boots to WW1 and WW2 memorabilia, to reclaimed wood and old truck parts.  It was awesome!

We then went to Smith Rock to do another hike before heading home.  Smith Rock is another gorgeous hike and it’s a rock climbers dream.

There’s a trail that goes along the river (which we did) and Misery Ridge, which goes to the top.  It’s called Misery Ridge for a reason.

Little A loves to hike, which makes us all so happy.

Even though it was a short trip we had a great time and can’t wait to go back.  Or move there.  🙂

Have a great Monday love bugs!

Looks like you had a beautiful weekend! I’m cracking up about the nonstop egg hunting. Henry isn’t big enough for that, so we didn’t go to the hunt at church. In fact, I didn’t even get him an Easter basket because I didn’t want to eat all the candy (10 mo old is NOT getting candy… Yet) so we had a very un-Easter-y Easter. I want to go hiking and beer tasting with you! So fun.
