Back in December I put together a list of goals I wanted to accomplish this year (you can see my original post HERE). Now that we’re heading into MAY (craziness!) I thought it was time to check back in on how I’m doing and maybe level set some expectations.
Family
1) One family vacation to somewhere we have to fly. I don’t care if it’s just California, I want us to get away for at least an extended weekend in 2014.
UPDATE: We haven’t taken Little A on a trip yet this year, but I see a potential for a few coming up later this summer, so I know this goal will be accomplished.
2) One vacation for Huebie and I alone.
UPDATE: Huebie and I have already gone to NYC for the Super Bowl and are heading to Sonoma next week for our anniversary!
3) Continue quality time with Little A.
UPDATE: I have been so lucky that I’ve been able to work part time since Little A was born. And although I’d love to stay in this job and continue my part time career, I am in desperate need of a change, which will probably require me working full time. There are some things happening in our lives that may change this (for the better) but nothing is confirmed yet. We’ll see what the next few months bring.
4) Do one project with Little A every week.
UPDATE: This one has definitely not happened. We are just so darn busy! We’ve done some projects, but I run out of ideas for us and we usually end up building something or painting. We’ve gotten out of the house every week (which we both love) and continued our Starbucks/Target dates (which we both love) so that’s a good start I guess.
Health
1) New routine every month. That means switching things up and incorporating new exciting exercises into my daily gym or at home workout.
UPDATE: I’ve actually done better at this than I thought. I barely spend any time at the gym these days and most of my workouts are at home, which works better for me and I think better for a lot of you busy moms out there (I have a really great booty workout for you HERE).
2) More veggies!
UPDATE: I like turnips! They are actually really good just sliced raw. I’ve done pretty good in this area, but I know I can do better. Bring on the kale and bock choy (is that how you even spell it)!
3) Tone my body.
UPDATE: I have abs again! I’ve been working really hard on my abs especially. I got terrible stretch marks with Little A, so I have to work extra hard to keep my stomach flat and tighten that extra skin.
I’m feeling all around stronger and liking what I’m seeing.
4) Possible goal: Run another half marathon. I’m calling this a possible goal because I’m not sure if I will want to run another half this year, but if I do it will end up changing some of these other goals I have listed above.
UPDATE: This is definitely not happening. I haven’t really been running at all lately, and not sure I plan to, and I’m ok with that.
UPDATE: Huebie has been working on the deck the last few days! He put in the last few boards and the step. A few things left to do but the end is in sight!
2) Paint living and dining room
UPDATE: Dining room is done! You can see my reveal post HERE. Living room is still not done, but I’m going to keep it on the list.
3) New light fixture in dining room
UPDATE: Done! And it looks so good!
4) Paint bonus/play room
UPDATE: This is in progress as we speak (or as you read this is more like it). I really hope we can make some good progress on this room this week. We’re getting our house appraised next week so we need to hustle!
5) Get rid of Little A’s baby stuff and clear out bonus/play room.
UPDATE: We’ve gotten rid of quite a bit, but there are some things I can’t let go of. But I’m working on it.
6) Paint guest/Little A’s bathroom
UPDATE: Not even on my radar right now. This is probably going to move to the bottom of the list for this year.
7) Finish laundry room
UPDATE: We just finished painting the ceiling earlier this week! I need to do some picking up and then will photograph it.
8) Shelves in garage for storage
UPDATE: Done! Huebie got some really great shelves at Costco for storage and it’s cleared up a lot of space for us.
9) Paint ceilings in all of downstairs
UPDATE: This crosses our minds a lot, but it’s not a priority now. Once we start this, it’s going to take quite a while to do. We have a large house and all the ceiling downstairs is connected, so it’s a lot of work. This may be one I push off to next year.
10) Re-caulk master bath shower
UPDATE: This hasn’t happened yet, but it will be done this year. It’s pretty bad in some parts and just needs a refresh.
11) Hardware on kitchen cabinets
UPDATE: Well, I cleaned and waxed the cabinets, but the hardware still isn’t on. Maybe we can do that in between the bonus room and painting the ceiling downstairs. 🙂
12) Purge the house!
UPDATE: We’ve actually done pretty good at this. Huebie is parting with some of his old camping gear and I’m slowing getting rid of Little A’s baby stuff (clothes, toys, swings, etc.). There are some other knickknack things that I know I should part with, but am having a hard time. We want to eventually sell our bedroom set (it’s mine from when I was a girl and it’s a beautiful set with a queen bed, huge vanity and dresser with a curio on top) which means getting rid of some little things I keep on the dresser and just updating. As much as I know my mom doesn’t want me to sell the set, it just doesn’t fit us anymore and wouldn’t fit in any other room in our house; it’s too big. I think purging some of those little things will help me be more prepared to part with it.
I will say, I was pleasantly surprised to see how much I’ve accomplished on my goals so far this year! I thought there was no way I was going to be even close, but we’ve been slowly but surely making progress.
It feels good to check things off the ol’ list.
Do you have any goals you know you really want to accomplish this year but just haven’t happened yet?
Wow! That’s a lot on your list! AND I’m impressed with your progress! Good job, Tiffany! I love that you’ve had quality time with Little A 🙂 Good job on the abs! I did your booty workout again last night and I’m burning today! Your dining room looks great! I need to head over and look at that post. This is a great idea. I should do this too though my goals were a little more vague. Next year I need more detailed ones! Have a great Wednesday, friend!
This is awesome!! You’ve been keeping up with a lot on your list! I need to go back to mine and see what I have or haven’t done. I don’t remember my list, which probably means I’m slacking, haha! And I’m so jealous that you have abs, that is amazing.
Wow, great job! Hubby and I went to Sonoma a few years back and it was just gorgeous. So relaxing too. A great place to go for a couples getaway. Looking forward to seeing pics!
Sounds like you are doing a wonderful job getting through most of this list. Good for you! This was a great way to keep you on track for sure as you said. 🙂
Thanks Brittnei. I’m not obsessing about it, which makes me happy. Sometimes I get really driven and I’m trying to be better about letting things go if they don’t happen. But it’s still nice to check things off! 🙂
You are doing great at your goals! Well done Tiffany (and Huebie). That deck hey… I remember that project from last year. Gotta get it done for the summer, hey?!
Wishing you a lovely week my friend.
xoxo
