Good morning! I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July weekend! We spent it with friends and family and it was just perfect.
It’s been a while since my last day in the life post. Over a year actually. So I thought it would be fun to do another one! You can read my last post HERE.
I chose a day a few weeks ago because I thought it was going to be a typical Thursday. Since I go into the office Monday-Wednesday those days are less than exciting. Thursdays and Fridays are the days Little A and I spend together, so there’s a bit more going on. Our nanny called in sick that day, so it changed things up a bit, but for the most part it was about what our day looks like.
So here we go!
I slept in a bit this day and didn’t head downstairs to get my coffee until almost 6:30. On my days off I usually try to get up by 6:00 (I get up at 5:00 M-W), but I hadn’t gotten good sleep all week so I stayed in bed a bit longer.
After making my coffee I sat down with my Bible and had some quiet time. This is one of my favorite morning rituals to start my day off right. Please note: I have not kept up with my daily Bible reading, so although it says April 11th, it was actually June that I was reading this. 🙂
After my quiet time I turned on my computer and started working and answering emails.
Like I said earlier, our nanny called in sick this day, so Little A and I had some morning snuggles while she watched a bit of PBS Kids.
I worked for a while on my actual job, did some blog writing and reading and worked on my essential oils business.
Then we got ready for the day and headed out to our first stop. Thursday’s are usually our date day so we go to Starbucks then run errands or go to a park. Little A got a special treat this day too.
After our Starbucks run we headed to our favorite place. Little A loves Target. She also loves Costco and Fred Meyer. Those are all her favorite stores. She gets giddy when she knows we’re heading to one of her favorites. I love my little shopping buddy! We picked up a few things for me (new face wash and night cream) and a few pairs of shorts for her.
When we got home our essential oils delivery was on the front porch! It’s like Christmas once a month! I like to take my time opening all the products, and Little A likes to take her time popping the bubble wrap.
This day was a little out of the norm because I actually had to go into work for a meeting. So my grandma came over and watched baby girl while I headed into the office. We always do coffee or tea tastings at the start of meetings and this was my first iced tea tasting. Those tea pitchers were awesome! You steeped the loose tea leaves in the hot water, then when you set the pots on the pitchers of ice, the tea flows through the bottom to make the iced tea. Such an easy way to make iced tea!
After my 45 minute meeting it was back home. Almost 2 hours in the car for 1, 45 minute meeting. Sigh.
When I got home baby girl was napping so I changed out of my work pants, put my hair up and had some rare quiet time with Dr. Oz. I don’t read many magazines any more but I do love The Good Life.
It was short lived when my little love woke up. We snuggled a bit, then she wanted to watch a movie, so I put on something Disney (I can’t remember which movie at this point).
Then I went into the kitchen to make us some smoothies. Apple, banana, spinach and some blueberries. Delish!
I also had to perform emergency surgery on one of Little A’s stuffed animals. Luckily it was an easy fix and he’s recovering nicely.
After daddy got home it was time to start dinner (chicken tikka masala). I love that my hubby does most of the cooking in our house. It’s really not my thing.
I, instead, poured myself a glass of wine from one of our favorite Sonoma wineries.
And went outside to enjoy the sunshine for a bit. It was a gorgeous day and I wanted to take full advantage.
After dinner (sorry, didn’t get a picture of dinner, but it was delish!) we had some more play time, then it was bath, books and bed for this girl.
After baby girl was down I folded some laundry and did a bit of blogging before heading up to get ready for bed.
I like to shower at night. Something about going to bed clean makes me happy.
I crawled into bed, did a bit of reading then it was lights out around 10:00.
And that’s a typical day for me. I see so many bloggers that only share pretty or posed photos, but sometimes you just gotta keep it real. Don’t get me wrong, I love looking at their pretty, staged photos, but I can guarantee you that isn’t what their life looks like every moment of every day. This is pretty much how I roll. It ain’t always pretty and glamorous, but it’s real life.
Have a great day love bugs!
Tiffany you are beautiful in every light so no worries on the “real photos” 🙂 So nice to see this, and man do I miss Target!!! Jelous! 🙂 I want to write a typical day in Costa Rica! Its like Seinfeld and reality shows, for some reason real life is just fascinating. Go figure right, ha! Thanks for sharing!
Loved seeing a little glimpse into your life!! I have the same iced tea maker and love it!!! xo, Biana –BlovedBoston
2 hours in the car for one meeting? You are nuts! 😉
I love that ER package you got – so fun!
I love real, I love getting to know you through your hour to hour and I LOVE DR. OZ!!! I read his magazine every month and well, enough said, you get the idea. Would you PLEASE post this on my Tuesday Talk link up (still happening so you have time) because I know many women who love to read these kind of posts. Anyways, your photos – A-OK with me.
Yay for Dr. Oz! His magazine is great! I just shared on your link up Michelle, thanks for inviting me. 🙂
That iced tea maker is FANCY! I never brew my own iced tea… I’m not sure why. I remember my Auntie (who lives in Little Rock) teaching me how to do it in a massive mason jar and having the sun shine on it on the porch while it brews. Soooooo good!
Here’s the difference between boys and girls: A wants to watch a movie with you. H wants to play ball, chase the dogs, run (crawl) laps around the house. Ahhhhh, boys. There is no rest with them. At least I’ll stay in shape?
Oh I love these kinds of posts. They’re my favorite! I keep meaning to do one, but I always forget until half way through my day. I love how you are keeping it real. So much better than staged pics. It looks like you guys had a fun and full day. 🙂
PHEW! I’m so glad the surgery went well. 😉 Hehe
Your day is super busy… but at least it ended with wine. That’s the best way to end a day.
Love your day in the life.
Little A is such a sweetie. I love that she’s your shopping buddy. My girls HATE shopping. Although I don’t like it much either but I pictured with two girls that we could go on manicure and clothes shopping dates! lol
I love my morning prayer and Bible time too. It’s a wonderful way to start the day (and it gives me clarity and focus).
Your dinner sounds fabulous and the wine looks yummy!
Thanks for sharing.
xoxo
That iced tea maker pitcher thingy is so cool! I really enjoyed reading about your day. Gotta love target trips and smoothies!
The tea tasting sounds like so much fun!
I love that you shared this – it’s such a great habit to get into and one I think I might adopt after we get back from vacation.
PS – I LOVE your work place. 🙂 When my little girl sees the logo, she screams out, “Can we go have mommy coffee time?” Haha
Love this! I like real life photos way more than the staged ones 🙂 You are always beautiful!
This sounded like a great day. And K’s meal sounds delicious! And I totally feel ya, as much as I love my Jesus Today book, I’m way behind because I don’t do it every day. Starbucks, Target, ER order, wine…sounds perfect to me!!
This was honestly my favorite day in the life post that I’ve read! Like you said at the end, it was real. My kids love Target too, especially when we stop for a treat at Starbucks. I didn’t realize that your hubby does most of the cooking. Mine has been recently mentioning that he wants to start taking over our cooking and I’d be thrilled to let him!
These are my favorite kinds of posts, I love seeing how others spend their days. Love your purse!! Also love that pic of you out on the porch, your back yard looks so lush and pretty. I agree and appreciate the authentic photos, so thanks for keeping it real. Perfect photos 24/7 is not reality!
