I thought it was about time I start writing a monthly goals post. I shared my 2016 goals at the end of 2015, and while those are still obviously on my radar and I’m working toward them, there are smaller goals I want to accomplish each month. Some months may be more than others, but especially this month I have a good amount of things I want to get done before baby arrives. Hopefully after he gets here this month I’ll be able to keep up with it all.
Finish nursery // We are so close to having this done! I went shopping with my mom and grandma Monday to look for a rocker/glider, so we have that on order now. I also ordered art and curtains this week so those should be here this weekend. We really kicked it into high gear these last few weeks so I’m definitely feeling better about where we are with his room.
Wash baby clothes // Obviously a lot of this month will be devoted to baby’s impending arrival. I was waiting until after our showers to wash any clothes so I could take inventory of what we have. So now that those are over I can go through, organize and get everything washed and put away. As much as I hate laundry there’s just something about washing baby clothes that I love. They are just so darn tiny!
Write thank you cards // Gotta get all the thank you cards done for gifts we’ve received. Everyone has been so wonderful and we feel so blessed to have so many thoughtful, caring friends and family members in our lives!
Keep house organized // We had cleaners come in last week and do a good deep clean, so I feel so much better about bringing baby home. And the hubs is actually letting me keep the cleaners! I am pumped! Lord knows I have little time now to clean; and that’s only going to get worse when baby comes. When we get short on time we tend to let things pile up and not get put away. My goal is to make sure that we stick to the rules that helped us simplify our life and we’ll be able to maintain our organized home.
Finish planned posts // I scheduled my calendar out until mid-April, so now I just need to get to writing. I’m hoping to have at least a few posts completed and scheduled for after baby E arrives.
Freezer Meals // We didn’t do this last time, but I really want to get a few freezer meals done for the weeks after baby. K will be home for 3 weeks, but when he goes back to work it may be to a new job, so I know neither of us will want to cook in the evenings. Of course I’m checking Pinterest for simple ideas, but I’d love to hear some of your favorites! Leave me a recipe (or two) in the comments!
Pack hospital bag // This one is actually almost done. A few weeks ago I purchased all the “necessities” I’d need for my hospital bag: pads, toiletries, new bath robe, nursing tank tops, etc. I need to go through and double check that I have everything we will need and we’ll be ready.
Get special gift for Little A // I want to have a special gift for Little A from the baby when she comes to meet him at the hospital. I’ve heard this from a few friends and love the idea. The girl loves gifts and I think it would be really special for her brother to get her something. I’m all ears for ideas friends!
Date night with K // We had a date day a few weeks ago, but it was cold, windy and rainy, so we just did lunch, got him some new ski poles and looked at cars. I’d love one more dinner just the two of us and maybe a movie. Just something simple. I love spending time with my hubby and I know once baby comes it will be limited.
I think that’s about it. I hit full term at the end of this week and will be doing all the things to finalize life for baby to be here.
Have a great day love bugs!
Little A is going to love becoming a big sister and I’m sure getting a present other than baby will be great too 🙂 xo, Biana –BlovedBoston
I used to blog monthly to-do lists and I miss it. You’ve just rejuvenated me to do it again! So many exciting things to check off your list before baby makes an arrival! Gifts from family members and friends are the best, right? And then somehow the thank you notes are the worst.
My 4yr old loves her Build-a-Bear bear and is always asking for a friend for it. So the plan is to go to BAB and let her build another bear a couple weeks before baby sister is due. That will be her big sister gift.
I had planned on a making a bunch of freezer meals with my first but then went into labor 3 weeks early. This time around I’m trying to make 1-2 meals each week in the time I have remaining. So far I have cheeseburger casserole, shepherd’s pie, and a couple of slow cooker meals like teriyaki chicken and a marinated pork roast. I have a freezer cooking Pinterest board to help me with ideas. (https://www.pinterest.com/loggerswifeblog/food-freezer-cooking/) I’m also doing things like muffins and cookies since I make those for my husband’s breakfasts and lunches each week.
Eeek! You are getting sooo close, and I couldn’t be more excited for you! I think a gift from baby to Little A would be sweet. And cleaners… yay!!!
So many good goals. Although a date with little K sounds like so much fun.I SO admire people who plan out their blogs… I write the night before! 😉
Awe, what a sweet idea to get big sister a gift from little brother!
You are getting SO close, so I’m sure it feels great to almost have the nursery done and things really getting ready for the arrival. I ca’t wait to see the artwork you picked out for the room 🙂
Awww this post brings me big smiles : ) What an exciting time for you and your family!! I’ve been having the urge to purge everything in my house in order to simplify and stay organized, but instead have been slowly putting away or giving away things that aren’t essential. Can’t wait to see nursery pics : )
Even if you don’t purge, getting organized feels so good doesn’t it?
I love goal posts but this… all the baby planning and stuff, really excites me!
Yes, just a few more weeks to get everything together.
I want to see that nursery and the little guy! I can’t wait!
xoxo
Good luck in your final preparations! I love having monthly goals, it makes things seem so much more manageable than a big list of yearly ones that sometimes get thrown to the wayside.

You got this mama! I say, prioritize date night 🙂
These are all awesome goals! And they sound fun, too! Having posts scheduled when Little A was born was a lifesaver for me. And getting a girl for your Little A is such a cute idea! When our daughter was born we had our son pick out a teddy bear for her to give her at the hospital. She still sleeps with it every night!
You are so smart to make these goals before the baby is born. I would love to know what freezer meals are your favorite. I mean to do this, but haven’t been great. I eat plant-based, so mine are mostly chilis.
