Happy Monday! It has been a long while since I’ve done a weekend rewind. But this weekend was so unique I had to post about it. Huebie and Little A went to his parents’ house to help do some painting. This was the first time I had ever been alone without them!
At first it seemed like the perfect idea. I’d get a lot of blog work done, spend some time relaxing, maybe do some cleaning. That didn’t exactly happen (the blog work, deep cleaning part), but I did enjoy the time alone (and with friends).
When they were getting ready to leave I about lost it. I was crying and thought maybe I’d go with them. But I let them go, and tried to figure out what to do with myself. They were only gone one night so it wasn’t too terrible, but I sure did miss them.
Usually on Friday’s our nanny is here in the morning and I’m scrambling to get a bunch of stuff done before she leaves. So once they left, I was still in that panic, get everything done mode. I had to just walk around for a bit and figure out what to do. It really was so weird.
So I decided to let Jillian kick my butt for a while. And she did.
After getting cleaned up, I had a quick snack/lunch:
I found that awesome Greek yogurt veggie dip at Fred Meyer. So good with veggies and the pretzel thins!
And I made trail mix, per Kelli’s recommendation:
Then I decided a trip to Home Goods was in order. This is probably where I should have just stayed home and worked on the blog or something, but…well….I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to go to Home Goods alone!
But not without a stop to get caffeinated up!
Being able to walk around Home Goods without being rushed was amazing. Next to peeing alone (and by that I mean without a child staring at you, or trying to get in the bathroom. You mom’s know what I mean.), it was like top 2 awesome times spent by myself.
We don’t really have the $$ for me to go buying up everything I want at Home Goods (darn it!), so I took photos of everything I wanted to get, and showed Huebie later, saying of course that we really needed this mirror for the dining room, or any other room in our house (let’s be honest here) because it is just so perfect.
After about an hour or so at HG, I decided I really didn’t feel like cooking dinner. So I called up my old boss to meet me for happy hour.
He was probably the best boss I’ve ever had. It’s always fun catching up (and trying to convince him he needs to hire me back part time). ๐
Saturday:
My new favorite thing to do on the days I don’t work is get up, have some quiet time and read while having a cup of coffee. It doesn’t happen every day, but on the days it does, I’m in a much better place in the mornings.
After grabbing another cup of coffee:
I went to Target for a few things that cannot be discussed on here because they are for a very important holiday that is coming up this weekend. So let’s just say I grabbed a few important items. ๐
Then I met my girlfriend Amy for pedicures:
Side note: When I was pregnant with Little A, I would get a pedicure every other week. It was awesome. Like I seriously looked forward to it. Especially the foot massage (obviously). This is probably only the 3rd or 4th pedicure I’ve had since having her. I miss them.
Meanwhile, little miss was having a good ol’ time with Grandma:
After pedis, Amy and I went to lunch:
I mean seriously. Those shrimp tacos were amazing. And with the cut veggies (and diet coke) on the side. It was a perfect lunch.
By the time lunch was over, Huebie said they had just left his parents’ house and were on their way home. So I headed home to do some cleaning and yard work:
That’s probably the most exciting photo you’ve ever seen huh? ๐
And a few hours later they were home!
I missed that face so much. Even if it was just overnight. It’s so weird how much more I missed her being on my own.
We spent the rest of Saturday just playing and watching a movie.
Sunday we went to Home Depot (sorry, no photos, but I’m sure you all know what HD looks like).
And after nap we went and saw the Lego Movie:
I was a little worried she wouldn’t sit through the whole thing (since it has more adult humor in it), but she enjoyed it. And of course we did too.
And that’s how our weekend went down. If I had another free day or two, I’d probably spend less time out and about and more time working on the blog and reading. But truth be told, I did enjoy having this time to myself, and I think all of us mama’s deserve a little time on our own every now and then. It’s good for the soul. ๐
How about you? Anything exciting happen this weekend? Have any of you mom’s been all alone sans hubby and baby? What did you do with your free time?
What an awesome weekend, Tiffany! I was really excited to see this post! ๐
I was CRACKING up about you being able to peeing alone…I’ve heard so many moms say this so at least I know to expect it! :-p
I’m so glad that you got some girl time, a pedi and lunch…those shrimp tacos looked awesome! I did find one difference about us :-p I hate Coke…especially diet Coke! You can’t pay me to drink that! haha. If I drink a soda, it’s Dr. Pepper ๐
I’m so glad you liked the trail mix! I need to make my own now. And I’m so glad that you got some Bible reading time. I did on Sunday morning before Kevin got up. It was raining (which is rare here) so I made hot chocolate and read in the recliner. It was so nice!
Yay for yard work! Very nice photo :-p Our yardwork was fun this weekend. Glad your family is back! Hope your Monday is going well!
This is awesome! What an amazing weekend! I haven’t had a day/night alone since I had my girls. You’ve got me thinking here… I need to craft my own mama’s retreat!
The trail mix Kelli posted looked awesome. Now you’re sharing it?! I have got to make it soon.
So glad you had some balanced time of alone time and time with friends.
That mirror is gorgeous… definitely!
Wishing you a lovely day.
xoxo
What an awesome weekend! One can never pass up a trip to Home Goods ๐ I love the mirror you got! And that veggie dip looks amazing- I am definitely going to be on the hunt for it the next time I’m grocery shopping! Those shrimp tacos look SO GOOD– like the best food I’ve seen on blogs all day! What is your starbucks drink of choice?
What a fun weekend!! I mean, no kids and no husband! Oh the possibilities! I am so glad you did more than blog stuff and cleaning! Peeing alone?! I can’t even stand it! A trip to Home Goods and Target alone? Dinner out? Pedi’s?? I may just re-read this post again to bask in the amazingness that was your weekend! ๐
I’m glad I did too Bekah. It was a good weekend. The peeing thing kills me! My daughter always asks for privacy (which I think is so funny) but won’t give it to me. Silly kids.
You should try to get at least a free day to yourself soon. It really was glorious. ๐
Oh my gosh, that sounds like the PERFECT weekend! And I think we might be twins separated at birth – your original plans were totally what I would’ve planned too, and then what actually happened would’ve gone down the same for me too! Oh man, those tacos and all that coffee made my mouth water reading this, lol. I definitely think every mama deserves some time to herself like this, it feels so amazing. So glad you got some time for yourself, you deserved it!
Sounds like you made the most of your time alone! I know what you mean about going shopping alone and not rushed. That mirror is pretty awesome. I hope you get it. We saw the Lego movie a while back and really enjoyed it too. Those tacos look awesome! Now I want some.
Even if it is for a few hours…..it is nice to pee alone, grab a coffee, look at what you want when you want, have peace to read or write. It’s these little things that are important because they’re for us mums. : ) x

It really is! Even just a few hours alone is awesome. And yes, peeing alone….who would have thought right?! ๐
I found pig & dac blog a while back and reading her post today made me smile and I wanted to come see who this “TIFFANY” is. ๐ Your post is getting me excited for a weekend I have planned in the near future to spend with just the moms. (no kids or hubby) I hope we have as much fun as you did. I think I’ll miss the kiddos too.
Aw you’re so sweet! Thank you for stopping by! I hope you have a blast with your girlfriends! It was nice to have some alone time, but I did miss my girl. ๐
This looks so amazing!! What a great time to document! I’m a little bit jelly ๐ ~Jenna // A Mama Collective
It was really nice to have some time. This morning is rough, so I’m kind of wishing for more alone time, ha!
Have a good day!
