Monthly Faves

December Favorites

January 7, 2015

Last week I wasn’t planning on doing a monthly favorites post.  Mostly because I couldn’t think of anything and December was so Christmas focused all I could think of was gifts Little A got for Christmas.  But then I started making a list as things came to me and I have a few things I really want to share with you all that I love!

Linking up with Kelli and Mia today!

Favorite Christmas present

I had wanted to get Huebie and I FitBits for Christmas, but didn’t have the funds after getting him some bigger items.  So he surprised me and got us both Jawbones!  And we both love them!  I use it to track my steps, sleep, fitness and calories.  I don’t count calories every day, but it’s pretty useful.  Their library of food options is a bit limited, but I just do the best I can.  And you can create your own food items in the app as well.  You can also set an activity reminder, so every 45 minutes if I haven’t moved my behind, it vibrates on my wrist.  It has definitely got me moving more that’s for sure!

Beauty

These 2 products actually span from I’d say October on, but I have forgotten to share them until now!  My hair is very fine, but I have a lot of it.  I also have zero volume in my hair.  So my hair stylist recommended both of these Kenra products to me and so far I’m loving them!  They give my hair a good boost of volume and when combined with my dry shampoo, my second day hair looks awesome!  You can get them at most beauty supply stores.

Essential Oil

I originally got Cedarwood to help Huebie sleep.  Every so often he would have trouble sleeping.  It wasn’t an all the time thing, but when he couldn’t sleep, it was pretty bad.  It would go on for a few weeks where he’d be up all night, then he’d sleep fine.  Then a month later he’d have trouble sleeping again.  Cedarwood was a miracle worker.  I diffuse that with another oil called Peace & Calming before bed and he hasn’t had trouble sleeping since. (PS. If you want more info on essential oils, check out my new Young Living Essential Oils page HERE.)

I did more research and found out Cedarwood is also good for acne, dandrub, cellulite, UTIs and hair loss, among other things.  So guess who is my guinea pig for the hair loss?!  Yep, the hubs again.  I took before photos so we’ll see how his hair looks after 30 days. 🙂

New TV show

Oh Lord this show.  I don’t even know what to say.  I love it, but at times I hate it.  But overall I really like it.  We just started the second season so we’ll see what I think of it as we get further in.  After the first episode of this season though, I seriously want to hurt Piper for being so dang naive!

Happy hump day friends!

That Jawbone sounds awesome!! I loved that Kenra stuff when you let me borrow it. Did you get it from the salon? And I use Cedarwood for sleeping as well. Let me know if it works on the hair stuff and I may try that too! Thanks for linking up, friend!

What an awesome Christmas gift! I have heard so many great things about the Kenra products, but I’ve yet to try any, I should. Thanks for joining us 🙂

    Happy Wednesday.

I have a fitbit and I love it. Anything for more motivation!
OITNB is SO great. Enjoy! 🙂

Good to know about the Cedarwood. I’ve just still been playing with the oils that came in my kit. I haven’t ventured out and tried any other oils yet. May have to read up on this one though.
And the Kenra products are great. Especially their hairspray!

It sounds like we have pretty similar hair, I’m always looking for ways to get some volume! I’ve heard a lot about the Kenra Platinum brand, I’m definitely going to check those products out – thanks for the recommendation! I’ve been so curious about essential oils, it’s amazing the results you got!

Ooooh, you have some pretty awesome stuff here.

I wanted a FitBit – never heard of Jawbone before… interesting!

I love Orange is the New Black. It’s a guilty pleasure. The hubs and I watched season 2 in less than one week *shaking fist at Netflix*.

    Thanks for sharing.
    xoxo

I’ve been trying to decide between the Jawbone and the Fitbit and I just can’t decide! I know people who have both and they both seem like great options but when I go to the gym I don’t do a ton of cardio so I don’t know which (if either) would be better. And my hair is very fine with zero volume but it’s also very thin… so hard to manage!

I was a little unsure about the Jawbone at first, but so far I’m really liking it. If you don’t do a ton of cardio then I’d say it’s probably fine for you. It depends on how you view it, but with the Jawbone you have to plug it into your phone to see your stats, and with the FitBit you can just look on it, but it doesn’t bother me having to plug it into my phone. And I sort of like the look of the Jawbone better.

And yes! Fine haired girls unite! It really is a struggle. 🙂

Definitely keep us updated on the hair loss thing lol, Luis is losing his too and if this would work that would be amazing! And yeah, I freakin hate Piper and that feeling will not go away even as you get further in lol, but the show itself is awesome.

It’s getting closer for me to try those Essential Oils. I’m waiting for Income Tax return time $$$ 😉 I’m excited to try them, but I will need to ask you questions about some as time gets closer, okay? Need your guidance regarding oils. I never heard of Kenra. I’m going to start blogging again next week now that the holidays are over and things are calming down. I feel so out of the loop. Thank goodness for Instagram to stay connected in the meantime. HAPPY NEW YEAR MY FRIEND! 🙂 big xoxo to you! I missed you gals!!
