Yay for the weekend! It’s been a beautiful week, but once again is supposed to rain this weekend. But I’m excited to have the long weekend with my family.
My dad turned 70 on Monday. 70. Wow. Let me just let that sink in for a minute……..OK I’m good.
70 used to seem ancient to me when I was younger. Now, knowing my dad is 70 doesn’t seem so old. The man definitely doesn’t look 70. I think having my brother and I at an older age kept him young (at least that’s what I tell myself). 🙂
So for this Five on Friday I thought I’d share with you 5 facts about my awesome dad.
He is one of my best friends. He held the #1 spot for a loooong time, but my hubby moved into #1 a bit ago. But he’s still right up there of course. 🙂
We used to bake all the time when I was a kid. No bake cookies, snickerdoodles, and peanut butter cookies were our favorites to make.
He also wrote a book about Veteran’s benefits called “32 Questions and Answers for Veteran’s Benefits.” I tried to find a copy, but it was so long ago and benefits have changed since then. I’m pretty proud of him though. He used the GI Bill to put himself through undergrad and graduate school.
I don’t know much about his time as a POW, nor much about his time while in the service at all, but I know it’s a conversation we need to have soon.
This sort of goes along with #2. He loves his sweets; mostly peanut butter and chocolate (that’s also his favorite Baskin Robin’s ice cream). So for his birthday on Monday I had a sweet treat theme. But I told him not to eat it all in one sitting. Don’t want him getting diabetes at his age.
I couldn’t ask for a better grandpa for Little A. He loves her so much. Having 3 daughters he knows how to deal with little girls, and he truly makes Little A so happy.
My dad has definitely had an interesting life. There’s a lot I don’t know about, but I hope to learn more some day soon. He was always such an inspiration for me as a kid. I feel like a pretty lucky girl having grown up with my dad as a role model. I’m so thankful he pushed me and guided me to do my best.
Happy Birthday Dad. Love you!
We’re continuing our birthday celebration at the lake this weekend with some family and friends. Can’t wait!

Happy Memorial Day! I hope everyone is able to celebrate!

Aww I love this! Your dad seems like a really great man! He definitely does look good for his age and y’all look so much alike. Love that first photo of y’all. Great dads are hard to come by these days so it makes me so happy that you have one!
So cool that he taught you to bake. My dad doesn’t bake – he doesn’t like sweets but he’s a great cook and he’s taught me so much about cooking. 🙂 And I love chocolate and peanut butter like crazy too so he must be awesome!
Love that he’s such a great grandpa!! Have a great weekend, Tiffany!
Aww, lovely post Tiffany. Happy Birthday to your Dad, he sounds wonderful!

Happy Birthday to your Dad!! Hope you guys enjoy your long weekend together!
Thanks Amy! Hopefully it doesn’t rain too much this weekend. 🙂
Stopping by from the link up!
What an adorable tribute to your dad! Having a great dad is one of the best blessings a girl can ask for and he will only feel old if you let him 🙂
Have a good weekend!
Thanks Elizabeth!
He said he was trying not to think of his birthday; just treating it like another day. But I said 70 is a big deal so we had to celebrate. 🙂
You have a great weekend as well!
WOW! You dad sounds wonderful. So thankful for men like him who served our country for our safety and freedom. Happy Memorial Day!
I agree, your dad does not look 70! What a lovely tribute to your dad. Have a great weekend, rain or shine.
I love that your 5 on Friday was all about your dad. How sweet.
He totally looks younger than 70 – must be that great smile.
I love seeing my parents as grandparents… it makes me love and appreciate them all the more.
He sounds like a wonderful dad… Happy Belated birthday!
Wishing you a lovely day Tiffany.

I love love love this tribute to your Daddy! I can totally see the resemblance in that first picture of you two. Who knew that he taught you how to bake?! That’s so wonderful, Tiffany. And there are just so many other wonderful, awesome things about him. I truly loved reading about him!
Aw thanks Brittnei! I didn’t realize how much I look like him until I took that picture! Totally see it now (it only took 30 years, ha!).
Thanks for the sweet comments!
