Friday Favorites: My hubby

March 18, 2016

Happy Friday!  I hope everyone had a fabulous St. Patrick’s Day yesterday.  If you’re going out to celebrate this weekend have a drink for me would ya?!  I’m still just patiently (or impatiently) waiting for baby boy to make his debut.

Not only is March 17th St. Patty’s Day, but it’s also my hubby’s birthday.  Yep, this guy was lucky (or unlucky) enough to be born on everyone’s favorite Irish holiday.  He always says that being born on March 17th was both a blessing and a curse, since everyone wants to buy you a drink for your birthday. So while it was a cheap day for him in his early 20s, he always drank way too much, haha!

Really though, my husband is awesome.  He’s hilarious, so personable and makes everyone around him happy.  I’m so lucky to have such a great man I get to call mine. The best decision I ever made was saying yes when he got down on one knee in Germany.  I couldn’t have imagined the life we have now and how wonderful it is.  It’s not always easy, but I wouldn’t want to spend it with anyone else.

So for this Friday favorites, I thought I’d share a few of my favorite things about the man I call K.

He is super motivated
Whether it’s his job, health, fitness, our sled business, whatever it may be, K is super driven and such a hard worker.  At times this can be exhausting for me being his wife, since he tends to over do things, but I admire him so much for his passion and drive for self-improvement.

He’s an amazing father
I think many of us spouses would say this, but he really is an awesome dad. There’s no one I’d rather raise kids with.  We balance each other out.  When I’m frustrated, he’s calm.  When I need a break, he’s there to step in.  He loves being a girl dad (as witnessed in this post) and I know he’s going to make an awesome boy dad too (he can’t wait to get that kid in pads throwing the football).

He doesn’t take life too seriously
Listen, I can be a pretty darn serious person.  Too serious at times. I get this from my mother (thanks Mom).  I take everything literally, over analyze all the things, and struggle to let go of control.  Lucky for me my hubby balances me out completely.  He knows how to have a good time, makes everyone around him happy and always knows how to break the ice and get a good laugh out of me.  He has taught me that life doesn’t have to be so serious; I can let go and have fun sometimes.  I don’t have to be in control of everything 100% of the time.  He calms me down and helps me breathe more freely.

He’s a math wiz
I don’t know anyone else who can do long division in their heads like this man can.  I can barely add 13+35 in my head let alone do complex math.  It’s like he sees it in his mind and it just comes to him.  I’ve tried to learn his ways, but alas, I folded long ago and just ask him for the answer. It takes him less time to figure it out in his head than for me to whip out my calculator on my phone anyways.

Kellen-and-A

He is my best friend
Really truly, my husband is my best friend.  I’m sure I’ve said this before but it bears repeating.  There is no one I’d rather spend every single day with than K.  We do pretty much everything together and I love it.  Yes I’m sure he’d rather not go clothes shopping and I’d rather not go to the shooting range, but when we do it together it’s that much better.  And we always have the best time.

And now that I went and reread his Girl Dad post, I have tears and am done for today.  Linking up with Amanda today!

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!  Can you believe spring starts on Sunday?!  I, for one, cannot wait!

Awe, happy birthday K! I’m betting baby boy comes 2 days after his b-day simply because that’s when Henry came for us (2 days after Kirk’s bday!) My hubs is also a math wizz. I’m always saying, “Wait, babe, what’s x times z minus y? I can’t do that in my head!” and he has the answer for me before I finish my sentence 🙂

All the feels! Happy (belated) birthday, K!

How cool would it have been to have your son on his birthday? They can always be birthday pals because they’ll be close, though. 🙂

Such a sweet post! It is obvious how much you love him! I hope he had a wonderful birthday! Love hearing how much you guys prioritize spending time together–it is so important to do as a married couple, and one of the things that has kind of slipped with us lately! We definitely need to work on it!
