After a little break, I’m finally sharing my July goals with you!
Wow! Well that was an unexpected little blogging break I just took. But to be honest, it was nice. And needed. We were on vacation two weeks ago, last week was a holiday and we went east of the mountains to look for houses. It doesn’t look like things are going to slow down anytime soon, but I’m going to do my best to get back to my regular once a week posts.
June was a whirlwind with end of school year activities and dance recitals. And it’s now already July 9th, so I know I’m going to blink and it will be August. But I like to still set goals, even though they may be minimal.
Here’s how June went down.
Get our summer schedule ready
We have a set daily schedule for the days we don’t have play dates or other activities going on, and so far it’s working out great.
Here’s a little glimpse:
-Breakfast and get dressed
-Gym
-Errands or play time
-Snack and EJ nap
-A quiet time/workbook/reading and work time for me
-Lunch
-Afternoon activity (walk, park, outside play time)
-Dinner
-Show/bath/bed
Enjoy our vacation
Oh I did not want to come home! I disconnected as much as I could that week and I honestly didn’t miss it at all. We enjoyed the pool, went in the boat, did some wine tasting, putt putt, park time and just enjoyed the weather.
Continue my fitness cut
Success! I’m going to continue to keep my calories around where they have been over the last month and a half. I’m about 1.5% away from my body fat goal for the year. Gotta keep pushing!
Finish one book
If you consider the fact that I quit reading one book then yes, I accomplished this goal. I tried to read “A Man Called Ove” by Fredrik Backman, and there were some parts I enjoyed, but I just couldn’t finish it. Everyone says I need to give “Bear Town” another try, but since I didn’t like this book by Backman either, I may move onto a new author.
July Goals
Work on reducing my stress
Here’s the thing: I get stressed out so easily. It’s to the point where I can feel the cortisol running through me. I need to get back to my deep breathing exercises and really try to not think about work at all hours of the day and I think that would help tremendously.
Deep clean our house
Ugh, I wish I had a house cleaner. I hate deep cleaning. But our house desperately needs it. So I plan to just go room by room and do a good thorough cleaning in the next week or two.
Get to bed on time
We keep saying we are going to do it, but for the most part Kellen and I haven’t gone to bed before 10:30-11:00 in months. And boy can I tell. The goal is 10:00 so I want to hit that 4-5 days a week from here on out (starting tomorrow, as I type this it’s 9:45 pm).
Go on walks
Last summer a friend and I started taking the kids on walks near our house. I want to start that back up this month at try for at least once a week or every other week. The kids loved it and it gave us mamas time to chat.
July has activities almost every day and while I’m excited to spend time with so many friends, I know it’s going to be hard for me to find time for myself. BUT, it’s summer, and I’m looking forward to all the adventures we are going to have!
We’re leaving on vacay this weekend and I cannot WAIT to disconnect for the whole week! It’s so so so needed – I haven’t taken a blog break since Christmas! Your daily schedule looks just about like ours. Having a predictable schedule really helps the kids know what’s coming and keeps them calm and on track. I’m a huge fan of schedules for kids!
I disconnected on our trip and didn’t miss it either! It’s amazing! Good luck with your July goals!!
Your vacation looked soooo nice. Proud of you for kicking butt on your fitness goals!
