I think we’re finally going to start on the bonus room this weekend! What what!! I’m so excited and motivated to get rid of that awful maroon/burgundy color that is covering all surfaces of that room.
With visions of light, bright walls and kid friendly decor dancing in my head, I’ve been scouring the world wide web for some great lighting options.
Right now there are 2 boobie lights in the room. You know the kind I’m talking about. The light with the little part that sticks out in the middle, like a nipple (yes, I just said nipple on my blog). Not familiar with the boob light? Well here you go.
See, now you what what I’m talking about. Well, those 2 lights don’t provide very much light in the room. Could be a combination of the dark walls and small-ish window that makes the room feel so small, but the boob lights don’t help. So I figured it was time to start pricing out some options so I can start pinching my pennies for some lovely new light fixtures.
My overall goal with the room is for it to be a fun place where we can hang out, baby girl can play and we can just enjoy our time there. So the lighting needs to reflect that; fun, youth, family. But mostly fun.
The ceilings aren’t very high, so we can’t have anything that hangs down too far, but I definitely don’t want the boobie lights anymore.
These are the top 4 styles of light I’m considering. I was pretty set on the IKEA light until I saw that star and fell. I mean I fell hard. I love the brushed nickel, the fact that it doesn’t hang down too far (so no hitting our heads) and it’s fun factor. Sophisticated yet fun if you know what I mean.
What do you think? Which light is your favorite?
We have the boob lights all over the house too :-p I like your choices! The star one is cool! I think the IKEA one is my favorite 🙂 It looks classy and the price is great.
Ha ha! I have a boobie light as well. My husband refuses to change it since it’s only a decade old. LOL.
You have a keen sense of style my friend… I love your choices. For the purpose of the space you described, I’m thinking bottom right would “fit” the playfulness of the space… although top left would make it more sophisticated. Tough choice.
Have a good day my friend.
xoxo
IKEA has some fun lighting. If you have any good home thrift stores in your area, check them out too. I know lighting can get expensive. I’m going to replace the lighting in my dining room I just finished so I’m trying to decide what to do too. All of your choices are cool in their own unique way. I agree with Jennifer, tough choice. Have fun with it.
Good call Dawn! We have a Habitat for Humanity re store here so I’ll definitely have to check it out. Lighting can really be expensive, but yes, if I can find a thrifted option that would be even better!
