Hi friends! I hope everyone had a joyous weekend! We made it a short week last week and headed to San Diego to visit Huebie’s brother and sister-in-law. They are getting ready to have a baby in October so we wanted to have one last visit with them as a twosome.
We got in late Wednesday night, but Thursday morning we got up and got Baby A acclimated with her new surroundings, which included Lucy, their 3 lb. chihuahua.
Baby A was so excited! She kept saying “So silly puppy. Lucy so silly.” It was hilarious. When Lucy would walk away it was “Lucy, you get back here right now!” Ha!
Then we spent the afternoon with my good friend Janet and her girls. We grew up together, but rarely see each other now that she lives in San Diego. The girls had a great time at the park and in the pool later that day.
That night we just hung out around the house.
Saying hi to her baby cousin. She was so gentle, it was sweet.
The next day we took a trip up to La Jolla. I love La Jolla. The beautiful houses, great shops, La Jolla Cove. It’s a great place to sight see.
Baby A got to see real seals for the first time at the cove.
She’s freaking out about the seals here.
With Auntie Amanda and little baby girl (side note: terrible pic of me, but Amanda looks good and so does A, so I went with it).
I picked up Dream Homes magazine while we were in La Jolla.
Talk about outrageous! SoCal is definitely out of my price range! But they have some beautiful homes.
We then headed down to Pacific Beach to play in the sand. This was Baby A’s first time in the ocean!
She loved it! They would run into the (freezing cold) water, then run away from the oncoming waves. That was a good 30 minutes of entertainment.
She got right into building sand castles. Not afraid to get a little dirty this one.
The next day we decided to go to the aquarium. Total bust. If you’re ever in the San Diego area and want something for the littles to do, don’t do the aquarium. It was so tiny!
But we did get a pic in front of the cool whale fountains they had out front.
We decided to head to Coronado for lunch.
Obviously the adults were too talking too much. She wasn’t amused.
We had lunch at Miguels on Orange Ave. Fabulous mexican food! They have this jalapeno cheese dip they serve with their chips. A-Mazing!
We walked across the street to the beautiful Hotel Del Coronado.
I’m sure most of you have seen this place in pictures or movies, but it really is a beautiful hotel.
The beach there is fantastic as well. The waves are smaller so it’s perfect for the kids to play in.
We left our beach stuff in the truck, so we didn’t get to get our hands dirty, but she loved running away from the waves again.
Impromptu late night trip to Target for food for the plane ride home. Made herself a little bed in the cart.
It was a good trip and great to see family. Thank you so much to Amanda & Kagen for letting us stay with them for the weekend. They are now ready to have a toddler, ha! The next time we see them they will be a family of 3! So excited to meet my niece!
