Good morning! I know being the first Monday of the new year I should be ready to go and have a really great post for you all.
Well, that’s not the case. 🙂 We were super busy this weekend and into last night working on the garage, house, new car, that I didn’t even get on my computer. Craziness.
So we’re starting this first Monday of the new year with a weekend rewind. 🙂
We started the new year with a really sick little girl:
Poor baby was couging and couging all night long, but I’m happy to report she’s much better. Still a little cough, but she’s in good spirits and has her energy back. We’ll find out today if it really was whooping cough as the doc suspected. Not sure how that happens in an immunized child, but I guess anything is possible.
Saturday we went to pick up our new car!
It’s an Acura MDX. The day after Christmas we sold our Dodge Ram. Our goal is to be debt free by next year! This was one of the many steps on our debt free journey. We were able to pay cash and now we have no car payments! We were a one car family for about a week, which was really hard for us. We live in the suburbs so having 2 cars is almost a must; especially when I work part time. Huebie and I carpool a few days a week, but on those days that I’m home I really need to be able to get out of the house! Really enjoying the new car so far.
On our way to pick up the car we stopped at Cabela’s so Huebie could look at some man things. Little A was so excited to see the animals. The fish were her favorite part. They really just sort of gross me out (mostly just this sturgeon).
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but Cabela’s is actually pretty cool. They have a ton of animals, including a African safari type area with lions, cheetahs, and an elephant. It’s amazing the size of those animals.
This crazy girl was feeling much better already Saturday afternoon. She was putting her “loot” in Miss Bank (her piggy bank) and wanted to give her kisses and thank her for taking care of her money. Such a sweetie.
We spent yesterday purging our garage and last night Huebie and I started working in the playroom to get it picked up. I’ll be documenting the journey to make it a functioning meida/playroom this year. But I want to wait until we have some reasonable progress to share photos with you guys.
Do anything fun this weekend? Are you mid-westerner’s surviving the crazy weather you’re having?
I’ll be so excited to take my son to the zoo! It’s so funny that you are bringing up that question about why your baby would have whooping cough when she has been immunized. I just recently decided to look into vaccinations again because I hadn’t done enough research prior to my son being born. I talked to my hubby about it today and we were reading some pros and cons list on reliable sources and decided we are no longer vaccinating at all. I used to be afraid of that but I’m actually not now. We haven’t gotten a flu shot and me and baby have never been sick since he was born. 🙂
Brave choice Brittnei! I’m proud of you for doing your research and choosing what’s best for your family. I know a lot of families who have gone through the same decision making process.
The doc called this afternoon and luckily it wasn’t whooping cough, just a virus, but a crazy virus it was!
Happy New Year! Glad your little one is better, it’s awful when they’re really ill. I am so slow in kickstarting my blog for the New Year – that’s the trouble with breaks! : ) x
Louisa – My Family & Abruzzo
Thanks Louisa! She is back to 100% now; just need to get her schedule back on track 🙂
It can be really hard to get back into it after being away for so long, but I’m excited to hear more about your trip!
xoxo
Looks like a pretty good weekend. I’ve always wanted to check out Cabela’s. Since you said it’s pretty cool, maybe I will visit sometime soon.
Wishing you a lovely day.
xoxo
Poor baby, I hope she’s doing a lot better now that spring has kicked in. As for the new car, the Acura looks cool! And it’s also amazing you were able to pay for this in cash. I totally admire your debt-free goals. Just don’t forget to have your new car checked from time to time. The best of health!
