Shabby Chic First Birthday

April 18, 2013

It’s been a while since Baby A turned 1, so I’m super excited to finally be able to share her first birthday party with you!  I thought for months before the big day about what I wanted, knowing I wanted something super girly, and finally settling on Shabby Chic.  Baby A is a real girly girl, so the pale pinks that go hand-in-hand with shabby chic decor were perfect!  (Sorry the pics aren’t that great, I never thought I’d be blogging at this time so I wasn’t focused on blog quality pics.)

Here is her shabby chic first birthday!

I wanted to make sure everyone had an idea of the theme prior to the party, so I found these adorable invitations on Etsy.
The main focal point of the party was the Shabby Chic dessert table.  My parents have a lake house that my mom has decorated in a shabby chic theme, so I was able to use quite a few items from there to decorate with.
I wanted to have multiple options for party-goers, so the dessert table featured cupcakes, candied popcorn, yogurt covered pretzels, jelly beans, gumballs, macaroons, marshmallow pops, Circus Animal Cookies, M&Ms and rock candy.  Sugar high heaven!
I found this tiered plant stand at the lake house, and with the help of some pearls and shabby chic plates it made the perfect cupcake stand.
I collected a variety of jars from Target and TJ Maxx.  Great places to get glass jars at a discount.

Fresh pale pink roses, and hydrangeas were scattered around the house.  We dried the hydrangeas and spray painted them with a touch of pink.

My amazing friend Kara from The Sweet Side made these beautiful macaroons for the party.

I created a banner with all of Baby A’s monthly photos using twine and mini clothes pins. I used the Cricut to cut out the letters.

Our sweet birthday girl!  Don’t you just love her romper and headband?!

I had so much fun making the tea-stained coffee filter wreath!  It was a perfect addition to the front door.  I got the idea from Taryn Here.  She was a huge inspiration for Baby A’s party.
Thank you to everyone who made this day so special!  I’m so glad I’ve been able to capture this day for her to look back on.

EEEEeeK! I just HAD to come over and check out the party after I read your comment! This is adorable! I’m pinning it to my board, if that’s okay?! I hope so!

Thanks so much for telling me about it! 🙂
